What is Operation Reality Community aka ORC?
Operation Reality is a community of individuals creating large scale realistic military simulation, virtual immersion, tactical training and fun in a multiplayer gaming environment building and forging real life friendships and professional contacts along the way. We build military structured units and teams made up of milsim enthusiasts from all over the world, both civilian and military. All these individuals are organized and connected together via the internet in a structured virtual environment with live real time voice communication in order to carry out simulated military operations and training scenarios in a controlled and analyzed dynamic and entirely custom environment.
What are the membership options?
Currently, there are only two ORC membership options for direct private applicants to the community, of course there are many other external cooperation options and we’re always publicly open to contact and collaboration both professional and recreational so don’t hesitate.
In terms of application types, currently there is a choice between the Private Military Contractor (PMC) or being a simple community Member. The so called “ORC Member” is a member in mostly a social or intellectually collaborative capacity but would like access to private collaboration resources and communications. The other, the Private Military Contractor (PMC) is a member who wants full access in order to become a part of the private team and participate in the online milsim operations and tactical trainings.
What platforms are used to simulate these virtual military environments?
Currently ORC focuses primarily on building and running its military simulation operations under ArmA 2 Arrowhead (Combined Operations) multiplayer, which is a commercially available PC application sold by Bohemia Interactive the creators of OFP and the ArmA/VBS series.
What do you use to for primary voice communications?
Currently we use the TeamSpeak 3 VOIP application.
What is the official language used at Operation Reality?
English is required in a fluent manner both in written and verbal communications.
How are the milsim teams and units structured?
Currently ORC runs the members registered in its private military company in a hierarchy modeled off of classic military authority structures. There are high command officers, officers, and soldiers all organized and participating in platoon and squads sized units. These units are loosely based off of special force operators and private covert military units frequently engaged in unconventional warfare but not exclusively. Individual soldiers advance their ranks and privileges within the group by participating and being active, by their personal capacities and talents, and of course positions permitting based off of their own personal desires.
Is this like a gaming clan or league?
NO it is most definitely not. Operation Reality does not rely on any external gaming clans, groups, ladders, tournaments, clubs or leagues. ORC is an organization run entirely independently based off of the contributions financial and intellectual of its own private dedicated member base of stake holders and registered participants. Individuals and members of clans are naturally welcome and encouraged to join but you will have to leave your clan affiliations behind you when you participate as a member within the ORC.
How often are the operations, and for how long?
So called “officially” scheduled operations and trainings usually (holidays/breaks permitting) will take place two times per week on Tuesday’s and yet even more importantly on Sunday’s for series/campaign operations. These operations usually commence at 18:00 or 19:00 UTC and can last anywhere from a couple of hours to several hours. PMC members are highly encouraged to show up on time and to participate in the length of the operation or training time permitting. If PMC members are unable to make a certain event we expect a simple Leave of Absence (LOA) to be posted on our forums.
It is also important to note, that besides the “officially” scheduled operations, throughout the entire week, members are active on the forums, Teamspeak and game servers. On the fly operations and gaming sessions happen just about every day at Operation Reality so remember to be logged on Teamspeak and actively seek to get some more training and fraternizing with your fellow team mates in between scheduled PMC operations.
Is this an extremely competitive organization? Are the member and time requirements too heavy or strict?
Operation Reality was above all created to setup a fun and friendly environment for professionally minded mature individuals and milsim enthusiasts from the world over to be able to meet, communicate, band together and become a part of something bigger than themselves, forging relationships and growing into the future together. Our member’s life situations and time schedules vary widely and we accept this. Thus it is all left up to the individual to organize their own schedule within the team and contribute what they can, when and where they can to the best of their abilities. It is up to the individual to be perceptive, active and engaging to prove his place in the team and his worth to his fellow ORC brothers. There is a lot more to the Community than simply the weekly scheduled online multiplayer sessions, we encourage you to sign up on our forums, get on TS and find out.
I love ORC. To summarise things, we are a band of brothers, that plays a military simulation like no others. As real as it gets without sticking your neckout. And for me , as an ex-legionnaire, it gives me something that civilian life cannot offer me, so here i am, harving served almost 2 years and looking to extend that for many many years to come. Go OPREAL!!

That’s awesome to hear. I’m ex USMC myself. I presume you mean ex French Foreign Legion right? They are world renowned – much respect! I’m hoping to sign up for ORC as soon as I get a new PC. Hope to see you around soon.
