Background information:
Operation Silent Neptune will be played out on Podagorsk, and dependent on where we go from there, in any of the theaters we have already deployed to. Silent is the covert joint ground and air element, Neptune is the marine and ASW element.
Storyline So Far:
After a full withdrawal of US Forces from the Island of Podagorsk following a break down of communist leadership in the North of the country, Podagorsk was left with an emergency government. This was a direct result of a spiraling decline of public support for US involvement in the area, mainly due to the damages it caused between Americas newly forged ties with the Russian Federation and other former Soviet territories in the Eastern Bloc.
However, this new government is frail, and the US put no checks on the movement of former SLA generals, with a large number of them joining the newly formed Joint Podagorsk Defense Force (JSDF). The relative stability in the are brought about the dismantling of former SLA bases, but there is still anger and frailty within Sahrani, and this is made even more worrying by the JSDFs acquisition of ex-russian SSN Hunter Killer Submarines. Information aquired by the British SIS (this British taking responsibility of monitoring all of Sahranis Military acquisitions) also suggests that the JSDF may have purchased an unknown SSBN class submarine. It is unknown whether this is completely true, or whether it is armed with nuclear missiles.
The UN continues to monitor the situation, and the CIA has identified 5 important former-SLA generals which are suspected to be receiving correspondence from North Korea. The North Korean Foreign Affairs Minister, Pak Ui Chun , has not commented on the matter.
In light of recent tension, US forces have set up a observation base on the nearby island.
